How we work
Straight answers about
what we do.
What we do
EmployedRight helps you understand your rights at work: what your own contract or letter says, how the law works in Great Britain, and which deadlines matter. We do that with plain-English guides, a free document check, and a short questionnaire about where you stand.
What we don't do
We are not a law firm, and we don't give legal advice. We don't tell you whether to sign, resign, appeal, accept an offer or bring a claim, or how a tribunal would decide. When you want advice on your own situation, that comes from a solicitor.
Putting you in touch with a solicitor
If you ask, we pass your details to MML Law, a Scottish law firm based in Dundee. A solicitor there will contact you, explain how they can help and what it would cost, and you decide whether to go ahead. No solicitor-client relationship exists until they agree to act for you. Nothing is passed on unless you tick the box that names them.
How we're paid. We may be paid for passing on an enquiry. The terms are being finalised, and we'll set out here exactly how it works before any enquiry is passed on. It never changes what the document check or the guides say: they're written to the same rules either way.
How we write the guides
- Every rule, time limit, rate and statistic comes from a primary source: legislation, gov.uk, Acas, the Equality and Human Rights Commission, or the tribunals' own guidance. The sources are listed at the bottom of each guide, with the date we checked them.
- Employment law is changing in stages under the Employment Rights Act 2025. Each guide says what applies on the date it was last checked, and which changes are scheduled.
- The guides cover Great Britain. Where Scotland does things differently in practice, we say so. Northern Ireland has its own employment law.
- We don't name employers or law firms, promise outcomes, or invent examples presented as real people.
- We use AI tools to help research and draft, and every guide is checked against its sources before it's published.
- Spotted something wrong or out of date? Email hello@employedright.co.uk and we'll fix it.
How the document check works
Your PDF is virus-checked, then read by an AI model (Claude, made by Anthropic). It returns what the document gives you, what it asks of you, the key terms and the dates, each with the page and the exact wording. We then check every quoted line against the text of that page, and mark any we couldn't find. The file is deleted as soon as it's read. Full detail in our privacy notice.
It can make mistakes, especially with scanned documents. It never tells you whether a term is fair, lawful or enforceable.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with anything we've done, email hello@employedright.co.uk and tell us what happened. A complaint about legal advice or service you received goes to the law firm, which will explain its own complaints process.
